Gythio is a mainland port and located in the south of Greece. There are ferries to and from Gytheio port regularly all year round by the Greek ferry company of Sea Jets. Ferries serve between Gythio – Kissamos/Crete and Gythio – Ionian Islands/Kythira/Antikythira.
Gythio is a charming town in the southern Peloponnese, built on the hillside and located in the Mani region. It has a very beautiful beach called Mavrovouni. It is one of the places that can be preferred for a nice rest holiday. There are nice taverns on the beach side to eat.
Although there are not many activities that can be done in the area, there are a few water sports that can be done on Mavrovouni beach. Another fun activity is hiking, which can be done in the spring months, unique sea views await you at high altitudes.
Gythio also has an ancient story; It is said that this place was the port of ancient Sparta and that Prince Paris and Helen of Troy, who were mentioned in the Troy legend, departed from this port.
